City Creek Center Preview Gala

I have been waiting for the new City Creek Center to be finished for a very long time! It has made me so excited every time I go downtown and see all the progress that has been made.

Well the time is almost here! You can actually get a chance to shop the 80 stores the mall has and walk through the center before it opens to the public!

The City Creek Center Preview Gala will be held on March 21st from 6:30-9:30 pm the event  includes:

Complimentary parking

Continuous Entertainment

Food and refreshments

Hospitality Suite

Shopping! (My favorite)

The price per ticket is fifty Dollars and each ticket includes a twenty dollar VISA gift card. Also 100% of the ticket sales goes directly to 4 wonderful Utah charities.

I think it’s really neat they let you choose the charity when purchasing the tickets. Here are the choices.

The Road Home

Ballet West

Junior League of Salt Lake City

and Utah’s Hogle Zoo

Tickets are limited so this is not something you want to wait on. To buy your tickets go to www.shopcitycreekcenter.com

I can’t wait! I am most excited for Tiffany & Co! I know I won’t be able to actually afford to purchase anything there, but just going in and window shopping will be enough for me!

*I received 2 event tickets to help spread the word about this amazing evening! So if you see me there please say hi!

An Unexpected Choice

I recently spent almost the whole entire day shopping without kids all by myself! It is a rare occurrence and was enjoyed by all (all meaning me) I wanted to get a few new clothes and was really wanting to buy some jewlery.

Let just say that I am pretty cheap when it comes to shopping. Nothing else though. I prefer to call myself thrifty and am known to do lot of window shopping. I went into one particular store and this necklace caught my eye.

It was strange and random and not normally something I would buy. I felt daring and it was on sale for only five dollars so I grabbed it and bought it with no remourse.

Introducing my new necklace.

Yes that is a purple Octopus hanging from a gold chain with black beads.

Why do I like it? I have no idea.

Am I a little nervous to wear it? Yes

But it spoke to me! It had some certain appeal that I cannot exsplain.

This weekend is kind of big for me. I am going to EVO I am nervous, excited and 100 other emotions. I can’t wait.

If your going to be there please say hello. I’ll be the one in the purple octopus necklace.

Christmas Shopping

I believe that Christmas shopping should be an Olympic sport. It should be something you train for all year long, not only physically but mentally. Their should be computer programs that test us on how fast we can find bargains online and buy them before they are sold out. Skill tests that see how long we can handle tortuous freezing temperatures in lines all night long. It is not for the faint of heart. That is one things that is for sure.

I should have realized this when I took my three kids and my husband with me to do some major shopping on Friday night. I was feeling WAY behind and needed to get things done pronto. We decided we would shop at Target  and Costco. The two best stores in the nation in my humble opinion.

Costco went great. the samples really distract my kids. If they are starting to whine there is nothing like a tiny spoonful of yogurt or one of those health smoothies they are always demonstrating with 50 different veggies and fruits to keep them happy. I found a lot of great stuff their and the most hilarious/awesome gift  for my brothers and their wife’s. Alas I cannot share this awesomeness they might read this. I will after Christmas I promise.

Next up was Target I could tell we might have some tantrums ahead. We had not eaten dinner yet but did not think we would be that long in target. How I could think that was a mystery to me.

The Umpire and I were a perfect team. Shuffling the kids from one parent to the other while secretly buying them last minute gifts. We were like spies on a secret mission very Mr. and Mrs. smith without all the violence and plump Angelina Jolie Lips.

By the end Shout was crying that she could not take another step and all three were tired and grumpy. Nothing that going home and getting Mexican takeout on the way couldn’t cure.

So I did it. I conquered my Christmas shopping marathon. Only a few more odds and ends to get then on to the wrapping. Which should also be an Olympic sport as well. Let’s hope I survive in one piece.

Wacky Walmart Moments

You know your life is not too exciting when the most crazy thing that happens  all day is when you go to Walmart and you notice they rearranged the entire produce section and it blows your mind!

I will now write other interesting things I saw while at the Walmart in bullet points.

  • A girl removing her nose ring. Yep I guess the best place to do that is right in front of the meat section.
  • A Man who looked exactly like Paul Shaffer the musician on David Letterman. (see photo) The last week I went I saw someone who looked like Elizabeth Taylor and one of the checkers I see there frequently looks like Bob from Sesame Street. I hope you are finding this information fascinating because I write it all from the bottom of my heart people!
  • A man yelling on his cell phone. This was an intense conversation if I could have lingered near by inconspicuously I think I would’ve.
  • A couple who could not keep there hands off of each other I saw them  a lot wandering around with an empty cart stopping to make out every little while. I guess they couldn’t concentrate on there actual shopping. Love at the Walmart is a beautiful thing.

I think I might make this a weekly blog post to write about my experience grocery shopping at Walmart. Because let me tell you this, there is never a dull moment at Wally World.

Kids Shoes

My daughter’s have serious shoe issues. I don’t remember when it all started but seriously it is driving me crazy! My daughter Shout is the worst. Shoes to her are like little death devises waiting to eat her feet. Don’t even mention their co conspirators  Socks  they are best friends to the death devises that eat her feet their plan is to make her feet miserable.

We have tried all different kind and sizes  and styles and brands. She will say that she like them in the store and the POOF when we get home they are magically horrible. The worst thing about this hatred is when we go places she always grabs her shoes and promises to put them on in the car. Once we arrive at the location she BEGS to not put them on. Yeah I have talked to her about the No Shirt No Shoes rule that does not seem to deter her. Even in church! She has had one pair of shoes that have been deemed ok by her. Yesterday she decided to leave them somewhere during all our errands. we did not discover this till we got home. So now we are back to square one. Oh the drama!

Squeals shoe drama is on a much different level. She somehow tends to think that shoes are much more fashionable on her hands. She is like Edward scissor hands except with shoes. I have to say it is quite adorable. She does it with all our shoes. It’s extra hilarious to see her haul her daddies shoes on her little hands I of course have a picture of her little shoe hands in action.

Shriek has the least Kids Shoes problem of all three of them. As a seven year old she is becoming more particular of her shoe style and just had to have Twinkle toes sketcher shoes for school! After much searching I did happen to find some for about 50% off the highest price I found. Thanks Nordstrom Rack.

I have never been over obsessed with shoes. It was nice that I was the same size of feet as my grandma growing up who had a closet filled with every color of ked tennis shoes ever invented I always got to pick out a pair at her house. My shoe issues are that I don’t like heels at all. I am a flats person. and also I don’t like open toed shoes. I have feet issues. and don’t like everyone to see my toes. is this strange? I also hate it when the top of the shoe gets close enough to the toes that you see the little toe cracks. yeah for me it’s kinda like a bunch of tiny plumbers on my feet. Yeah you all think I am nuts now huh?

Now you know where my daughters get it from

I am also over at Mommy Moment today go check it out!
